About Elliptical Trainers
Elliptical trainers represent the next wave of advancement in low-impact cardiovascular exercise machines and continue to grow in popularity. By simulating motions experienced through walking, stepping, cycling, and skiing, elliptical machines allow for a smooth and fluid motion while building strength in the arms and legs. Similar to the exercise position for treadmills, elliptical trainers are used by standing in an upright position while holding the handrails of the machine. With elliptical trainers, however, your feet remain in the foot pedals throughout the exercise regimen and circulate in a smooth and seamless motion, resulting in little to no impact on the knees, back, and hips.

Elliptical trainers are compatible for all ages and fitness levels and allow you to select the difficulty level through the incline and intensity settings. Additionally, elliptical trainers allow you to determine the complexity of your workout based on your needs, all while listening to music, watching television, or reading a magazine while exercising in the comfort and safety of your own home.

Although different types of elliptical trainers offer an assortment of features, many of them include an array of challenging programs, forward and reverse directional movement, EKG grip pulse handles, a lightweight portable design with easy fold-up capability, and a monitor displaying calories burned, distance, speed, time, and heart rate. Other types of exercise machines, namely treadmills and bikes, offer excellent cardiovascular exercise and muscular training for the legs in a forward-motion exercise. Elliptical trainers take this to the next level by offering an upper and lower body workout with dual motion, challenging and diverse programs, and a low-impact exercise machine that won’t strain sensitive joints.

Can anyone recommend a good pair of crosstrainers?

Posted: May 16th, 2012 | Author: | Filed under: Learn About Elliptical Training | Tags: , , , , | 2 Comments »

I’m seeking a good pair of crosstrainers for strength training, cycling, elliptical, and some walking (or maybe a warm-up jog). I tend to overpronate so I prefer a stable shoe with cushioning and I’m a bigger guy so they need to hold up. Any recommendations?

How to lose weight quickly – Losing weight quickly is possible

Posted: May 16th, 2012 | Author: | Filed under: Other Fitness Help | Tags: , , , , | 25 Comments »

How to lose weight quickly? Losing weight quickly is not complicated; this is the most recurrent question that I’ve been asked since I’ve been working in the fitness facilities and gyms as a professional personal trainer. The process of losing weight quickly is a goal dependent on several factors: 1) lifestyle. 2) Diet regimen. 3) Exercise (weight training and aerobic training) protocols. 4) Genetic response to external stimuli (diet regimen and exercise programs). Since one’s self genetic pattern is a nature given characteristic that we inherited by birth upon the unique process of crossing over between our parents’ chromosomes, this is considered the non modifiable aspect among the 4 above listed that contribute on the process to lose weight quickly. This is so because we have no control on our genetic. So how to lose weight quickly – given the precise genetic pattern that characterize the magnitude and extent of our physiological response to certain external stimuli – become just a matter of manipulating the modifiable factors, which are: life style, diet and exercise. How to lose weight quickly depends on how accurate and scientifically-backed are both the diet and exercise programs’ set up. How to lose weight quickly with the diet. Dieting properly is one of the most important contributing factors to induce a sensible fat loss process, thus leading to important levels of weight loss. What does dieting properly specifically mean? The word “diet” is a Greek word and

Training for a race in April – gone a week without running but am cross-training?

Posted: May 11th, 2012 | Author: | Filed under: Learn About Elliptical Training | Tags: , , , , , , , | 1 Comment »

Hey all, how bad is it to let quite a bit of time lapse between runs (it’s been a full week since I’ve run a regular run, and about two since I’ve had a long run) – I usually get outside and put on the miles 3-4 times a week. This week has just been hectic and I’ve been keeping it indoors, doing something on the elliptical, strength training, yoga, etc. I also went on a pretty long hike one day this week.

How bad is it to take a week-ish and replace these things with running temporarily? Will this hinder my performance? I’m training for a 5-miler on April 1st so should definitely get back to running soon – I just want to know if I’m messing myself over! Thanks!!
